Nami Island, the official sponsor of NAMI CONCOURS, is one of South Korea’s most iconic tourist destinations and a beloved retreat, attracting around 2 million visitors annually. From its humble beginnings as barren land, founder Minn Byeong-do began cultivating nature, and today, Nami Island has become a verdant sanctuary, home to over 220 species and more than 30,000 trees. The island has earned the nickname “Island of Life.” Each year, approximately 1 million international visitors from over 170 countries come to experience the island, celebrated worldwide as a sustainable place where nature, animals, and people coexist in harmony.
Guided by its founding philosophy of “protecting nature and fostering cultural heritage for generations to come,” Nami Island has worked to create an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy nature and culture without barriers. The island collaborates with international organizations such as UNICEF and UNESCO, as well as artists worldwide, supporting a wide range of projects from fine arts to multidisciplinary initiatives.
As part of these efforts, Nami Island hosted the inaugural Nami Island International Children’s Book Festival in 2005 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Hans Christian Andersen’s birth. Since 2009, Nami Island has been an official sponsor of the IBBY Hans Christian Andersen Awards, and in 2014, it was recognized with the Jella Lepman Medal from IBBY for its contributions.
In recognition of its ongoing commitment to preserving its natural beauty and supporting children, Nami Island was designated the 14th UNICEF Child-Friendly Park worldwide and the first in Asia in 2010.

나미콩쿠르의 공식 후원사인 남이섬은 연간 약 200만 명이 찾는 대한민국의 대표 관광지이자 휴식처입니다. 모래뿐인 불모지에서 설립자 수재 민병도 선생이 자연을 가꾸기 시작해, 현재 남이섬은 220여 종, 3만 그루 이상의 나무가 울창하게 자라는 청정환경의 ‘생명의 섬’으로 자리 잡았습니다. 매년 170여 개국에서 약 100만 명의 외국인이 방문하며, 자연과 동물, 사람이 공존하는 지속 가능한 섬으로서 세계적인 사랑을 받고 있습니다.
“자연을 가꾸고 그 위에 문화를 입혀 후손에게 물려준다”라는 창립 철학을 바탕으로, 남이섬은 누구나 차별 없이 자연과 문화를 누릴 수 있는 포용적인 공간을 만들기 위해 노력해 왔습니다. 유니세프와 유네스코 등 국제기구 및 전 세계 예술가들과 협업하며, 순수 미술부터 종합예술에 이르기까지 다양한 분야에서 후원 사업을 지속적으로 진행하고 있습니다.
이러한 노력의 일환으로 남이섬은 2005년 한스 크리스티안 안데르센 탄생 200주년을 기념해 ‘제1회 남이섬세계책나라축제’를 개최했습니다. 2009년부터 IBBY 한스 크리스티안 안데르센상을 공식 후원해 왔으며, 2014년에는 그 공로를 인정받아 IBBY로부터 ‘옐라 레프만상’을 수상했습니다.
또한 아름다운 자연을 가꾸고 어린이를 존중하며 돕는 지속적인 노력이 높이 평가되어, 남이섬은 2010년 세계에서 14번째이자 아시아 최초 ‘유니세프 어린이 친화 공원’으로 선정되었습니다.
